latest is 10636 --  if u want to use test beta versions at the very least use the latest instead of "reporting" bugs that could have been fixed weeks ago.... !!!

explained many times ... any odd numbered version 3.5, 3.7, 3.9 is never stable and shouldn't be used in production sites

last stable was com_virtuemart.3.8.8.10472.zip

the latest test versions are on http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/repository

when mature they get moved to http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files

the last one there is http://dev.virtuemart.net/attachments/download/1305/com_virtuemart.3.8.9.10622_package_or_extract.zip

when this is considered production ready it will be released as a vm4.x.x

We use for production site 3.4.2 still
Other are with bugs or RC version.

But is only our choice.

Teh database utf8_general_ci is wrong.
In latest Joomla you have now utf8mb4_general_ci and latest virtuemart should use this collation too and support more languages
