Product Availibility on Product Overview page

hi, I'm using VM 3.0.16 and Joomla 3.5.0 and PHP 5.5.35

I want to change the availability on product overview page; so if a product is NOT in stock, I don't want the red button / stoplight to be shown, but I want that a message appears 'only available on order' (or an image, I can upload).


I already tried to adjust in a copy of sublayouts - default.php to add some code I found here, but then I just get a website without any layout.

Can anyone please help me?

Your probably asking too much of a free forum..  what your wanting is bespoke code.. the info is there in the template but u want to display it differently
it would be a relatively simple if stock <1 then display XXXX
