Our client doesn't like the website redirecting to PayPal. He wants card payments to be direct on the website. Is there a plugin to make this happen?

Note --- I have posted this before but want to check if anything has changed in the months since then. I have told him that PayPal DOES save your details if you create an account.

Using Joomla 2.5 and VM 3.0.12.

Paypal Pro puts the payment onto your own site. As with all on-site payments you would need SSL and PCI compliance auditing.

The Virtuemart Payment plugin supports this

(You will also require to upgrade you PayPal account to a Paypal Pro account (a small payment per month for such an account, you also get access to their online virtual terminal product to support your cardholder not present transactions)

QuoteAs with all on-site payments you would need SSL and PCI compliance auditing.

Not strictly accurate, you do not need to have SSL or your system checked for PCI compliance if you use the PayPal hosted iframe solution.

Virtuemart supports the hosted iframe PayPal solution, known as the "hosted pro" settings, which does not redirect the site to paypal payment page as does the payments standard configuration.

Within the Virtuemart PaypPal plugin settings set the "payment Product" as "Hosted Pro"

For the template - choose Template D (iframe layout)

Quote"without the website redirecting to PayPal"

The customers then get to pay without leaving your site. In addition NO card data is stored in your systems and, from a PCI perspective,  your Virtuemart system is not "processing credit cards"

So is SSL required or not? The cost issue is probably the most important in our client's view since he is having multiple websites which will all need PayPal payments pro.

SSL is required for the "normal" PayPal Pro but not for the "hosted" PayPal Pro which uses an iframe. A poptential problem with shoppers is that in the normal versio with SSL they will see the familiiar padlock in the address bar, but the iframe without SSL will not show the padlock so those who follow the rule "always look for the padlock before entering card details" may not complete the transaction. A way to approach this is to be sure to clearly state that the "box" around the PP stuff shows the transaction is safe, or similar.

PayPal Pro is currently £20/month for most businesses.

They'll probably want multiple accounts as they'll want a different bank account per shop I think.
