Update $mainImages->file_description on selection of main product image

I am having issues updating the $mainImages->file_description when a thumbnail other than the main product image is selected.

The $mainImages->file_description is displayed correctly but it does not change when another image is selected.

I am still new to VM2 so I accept I may well be going about this in the wrong way!

Just in case someone knows the answer but doesnt understand my question:

I want to display the image title (description) for each of the images listed against the product. All of the thumbnails are present and the image title for the first image displays correctly. However, if I select another thumbnail the main image is re-loaded with the new image but the image title remains the same as the previous image.

$mainImages->file_description which works for the first image but doesn't update when other thumbnails are selected.

Has anyone a solution or come across this before??

Is it possible to have a copy of the code which relates to displaying the image title so that I can debug my code??
