Dear All,

I have modified the Current Vm 2.0.2 to suite my needs:

More specifically I have modified several core vm2 files to be able to have a full working VM 2.0.2 with back track tax calculation (only one way), added datatables jquery for listing products and many many other additions.
The reason i did it initially was because i wanted it for personal use.

I see now that I could distribute it to other users for use. The thing is that it has excess custom work on it and an auto update will destable the system untill i rehack the files (pretty easy because i have noted all the modifications).

What i need to know is if i can use my custom version of vm2 and sell it as template-like version of vm2?
Is it under a license that forbids me to sell it and gain some $$ for my work?

As I understand the licensing, you cannot modify VirtueMart and sell it. But you can sell a package to update or change a function. This can include replacement code. For an example of a sold package that involves hacking/adding code into the core see Quick View

You would need to provide support, or course, and make sure that the package is kept up to date. eg VM2.0.3 includeds a small security update, so you would need to ensure it still works with that version (now at 2.0.3B)

As I intend to use the product my self too ofcourse I will provide support and updated files to all of my buyers.
Whether it is a single security update or not.

I was not intending to sell VMart but sell the extra's I have created.
Because the extra's are edit in some core files and some additions to the sql db I thougth that by selling all the product together as akeeba restore package would be much safer and easier.

That may not be in keeping with your Akeeba licence.

Yeah..i realize more and more that if I want to use this commercially I ll have to create an extension install like style of the system...

Thx a lot for your info!
