Does this work with HTTPS? From the demo, I cannot see for certain if HTTPS is enabled.

I believe https support is not something that has to do with a payment plugin. Rather it is something that can be configured in the Virtuemart itself and it will apply to the cart steps.

I am starting to get a little confused here.  Is this new (2.0) plug-in a direct  replacement for what was available in 1.1.x?  I have used Authorize.net as my gateway for 6+ year and it is a vital part of my web site.  I cannot even conbsider updating anything else unless I have an operable plug in.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thank you for the link which I have seen once before.  It did not really anwer my question about this plug in.  FYI I used the paypal payment optionand it was a pain in the butt.  Orders were placed and occasionaly were never paid for.  Google Analytics was not picking up the transactions.  It is fine for an auction site but not for what I am doing.

This is a little off topic but I am very disappointed with VM 2.0 "stable".  It is still a development project in my view.  It is obvious that a painless mogration is impossible and data is lost left and right.  Untill I can migrate and duplicate my site without any loss of functionality or data it is not even worth looking at.  Worse, I am not sure what befits accrue once the process is completed.

1. If you are talking about the demo site setup by me, then its just a demo site. You can setup your own as an https site.
2. The other point that is the collection of information on the Authorize.Net own site is something which has not been part of this plugin but yes it should have been an option and I will try to develop something like that in newer versions.

1. If you are talking about the demo site setup by me, then its just a demo site. You can setup your own as an https site.

Ok Great, it would be better to implement the re-direct to authorize.net for the customer credit card input, since it would cost an additional $50-$800+/Year ( Look at attached screens or go to comodo.com) for a Private Certificate or you can use a shared Public SSL certificate from your hosting, but that would reduce conversions.

Your plugin adds to the cost of operation, yearly. It should work the way the paypal plugin redirects to a secure page to input credit card info would be cheaper to the end user of your plug-in.  Im guessing this is why the plug in did not have to wait for Authorize.net for approval like the plugin being developed by the Virtuemart dev team.

Hope its implemented soon, I will definitely  buy.


On a side note, will you be updating your Jban plug-in  for Joomla 1.7 or 2.5 or virtuemart.NET Autoship for Virtuemart 2.0 ..MUASIF80 ?

NO plugin is required to be approved by a.net
many people prefer to have an ssl and pass the card number themselves.
an ssl can be had for 10 or 20 bucks or so a year nowadays.
i got an EV SSL for 100/2yrs and having any ssl adds legitimacy and security to a site.
if you are such a paypal fan maybe you should just use them.  but please dont act like unless he sets the plugin up like you want that its not useful

This is something that can be done but I think it is not a standard  way of processing card info. As this compromises the security of the credit card. As far as the plugin I have developed, it does not do that. I can develop something separate than this plugin.

I am not going to alter the way this plugin works. If I will act on his suggestion, I will develop a separate plugin. I had said that in newer versions I can think about doing that, but if even I do that in a newer version I will keep in tact the current way of credit card processing and will add to it another option of doing it the way NawtyAtNight is suggesting.

I am glad that people have benefited from my work. I will do more work.

As I said in my previous post. starting at $50/Year.  , and could you please be kind enough to direct us all that don't know any better where we can get the $10 or $20 ssl certificates needed?

Although I am not a big cut and paste quoter, if you read the a.net developer links I've pasted before you would see I am right, there is no requirement for it to be authorized.

I referred to a EV ssl for 50 a year, which is the ENHANCED ssl, with special validation and which cost quite a bit more for that.

a regular one can be had for free as shown right in one of your images or for under ten dollars here:

I am not "in defense mode" but don't appreciate you knocking this effort as though it is worthless unless it does what you desire it to.

Secondly, as far as Milbo's message is concerned, he might want to certify the plugin developed by virtuemart people from the Authorize.Net. Certify in the terms that its a plugin that has the backing of the Authorize.Net He can comment about this further if I am wrong.

Also I read in one post in this thread that perhaps they would be releasing the plugin as commercial therefore its not in the svn. I don't know about there plans but I just came one day to this thread saw that the people need this plugin, the other day i developed it Which is ofcourse open source under GPL.

Its a matter of choice for one to have one type of solution over another. Both choices might have their pros and cons. But still one thing is that the solution should be such that the confidential information of the people like credit card info should not be compromisable due to it. I don't think so the saving of credit card numbers in a website's database is a good idea. But its also still a choice for a few people on this thread.

As far as the plugin I have developed, its not saving anything in the database, just passing it on to the Authorize.Net using the AIM method. Yes to enhance security to your site's cart you will need to setup https.

I will try to write a few more plugins for other types of options available for Authorize.Net

Didnt mean to sound as if I was knocking  it, I love that there is a Authorize.net plug in, I was just in need of clarification if that was the way it should work? Then I suggested the way the paypal button worked. I am just concerned about my customers security that is all.
