Hello everybody,

I use VirtueMart 4.2 and Joomla 5  : https://casa-bandera.com/

I would like to know if it possible to switch currency with selected language?

Example :

  • English -> Dollar
  • French or Italian -> Euro

Thanks in advance!

Everything can be done,  but... I don't understand your logic... What if a Briton (who speaks and reads English) prefers to pay in Euro instead of American dollars - does he have to read the text in French at this point?  :o

I have several bank accounts in different currencies - euro, dollars and my national Polish zloty. I would prefer to decide which currency I want to pay with and which exchange rate will be more favorable for me. Just as I prefer to read a page in a language that is more comfortable for me to read.

Consider whether your idea makes sense to have any discussion about it at all.

PS. It's very possible that you're using shared hosting and your site crashes during peak times. It is worth at least using a service that, in addition to the (marketingly) unnecessarily large disk space, guarantees you 100% of the offered memory and processor.

you also have incorrectly configured mail on the server. Both MX addresses point to the same IP - this makes no sense. You also don't have a PTR (reverse) configured - there is a high probability that your mail will never reach anyone.

Hello Hazael,

Thanks for your reply! :)

1. My idea is to set default currencies according to language, but still leave the option of changing them if necessary.

2. Are you talking about my hotmail email address ?

Agree with @Hazael.

In Ireland people speak English and pay with Euro.
In many EU states people don't speak French/Italian, yet do pay in Euros too...

What are your target customers?

If English speaking visitors can manage switching from Dollars to Euros, then they will manage switching from Euros to Dollars too.

If you do want a currency switcher based on something, considder doing it based on geolocation.
Within EU/Eurozone/Europe show Euro, outside Dollar...

My target customers are the USA, and after Europe (Italy, Germany, UK, France) and Australia. That's why my site defaults to American English (en-us href tag) and dollars. In order to optimize the SEO in the USA and to improve convenience for american people.

What you say is true, but the language switcher needs to be highly visible in this case.
