I got an information from paypal that "PayPal Plus" will be outdated.

Does that hit also the VM Payment - PayPal plugin or can it be still used (use it since years wihout trouble).
Tried to setup PP checkout but it seems a bit tricky.

So is there realy need to change from VM Payment PayPal to VM Payment PayPal checkout ?

Thanks for information.

It appears that PayPal has deprecated the use of PayPal Plus in Mexico but not for all regions. You can refer to https://developer.paypal.com/docs/regional/ for more information. Instead, they have been promoting their new PayPal Checkout system and have mandated that everyone puts their payment buttons on their site. They deprecated "PayPal Standard" and other payment methods in 2022 without notifying their customers. You can refer to https://developer.paypal.com/api/nvp-soap/paypal-payments-standard/gs-PayPalPaymentsStandard/ for details.

Regarding your question, there have been reports of glitches in the existing version of the PayPal Checkout plugin. As a result, it's advisable to wait a few more months until it becomes stable.

I'm personally not a fan of the new PayPal Checkout system because it forces shop owners to promote PayPal over other payment methods, especially considering the high PayPal conversion and transaction fees. A better alternative could be Stripe Checkout, which allows you to accept PayPal payments along with cards and other popular methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and many others. Stripe Checkout currently supports over thirty-four payment methods. If you are considering using Stripe Checkout, you can use the "Stripe Checkout for VirtueMart" plugin available at https://www.virtueplanet.com/extensions/stripe-checkout.

I'm also not a fan of the PP Checkout plug-in. Users can now not see upfront how much the payment costs will be, as it's not clear what payment option he/she will pick in the PP Checkout environment. So I'm sticking with the old plug-in for now. Hopefully it will keep working!
