How can I set a product so when you buy 1 you can get 1 free? Is this possible with native functionality?

GJC Web Design

don't think so .. I think I heard you can do this with the paid for version of AWO coupons

Yes, AFAIK requires AwoCoupon.  https://awodev.com/products/joomla/awocoupon

Hm I was hoping that I could just set every 2nd quantity of that product to 0 so that when you buy 4 products it will calculate price + 0 + price + 0. But I guess that is not possible?

EDIT: Okay, I did some testing and it seems that you could get this to work with the following way:

Set the price for the product to 10 euro for quantity 0 to 99.

Add another price to set the product to 5 euro for quantity 2.

If you order 2 products the product will cost 5 euro per product, which comes down to 10 euro in total. Which is essentially buy 1 get 1 free.

Now for some reason this does not work on Virtuemart 4.0.12 but it does work on Virtuemart 4.0.22.. Is this a known bug for 4.0.12?

There are many bugs in 4.0.2 but not worth chasing up now in an old version. I'd still use Awo as it is easier for a shopkeeper to manage.
