{loadposition xxx} in customfields editor

hi,
im struggling for years with fields size restrictions in VM. we need to have a long descriptions with various content, large tables, etc.. all fields have limits and cuts our content and brake out the layout. all modifications we made are not safe as any VM update rewrite it. so now we are trying to display custom modules in custom fields but it seems it dont work..?
i try {loadposition xxx} in custom field type editor (this is the best for us) and in text area too.. but non of them display the module content..
is this normal behaviour or am i missing something?
