Adding tax to a product make him be in discount

when i add a discount to my product, the product shows with a little box saying it is on sale.
But when i add only a tax the same box appears.

Can some one help me.

Your Joomla version is seriously insecure.  Did you miss the vital security releases?

Current versions are Joomla 3.7.2 and VirtueMart 3.2.3  - assuming you have not already been hacked,  test updates on a backup copy of your site in case you need to update your template as well, and because there are now far more configuration options.  Your tax/discout issue may be related to your template, suggest update first and then check template.

Make sure you have your 'taxes and calculation rules' configured correctly. Try using both +% with "price modifier for profit markup" "Type of Arithmetic Operation" and tax with "vat tax per product" "Type of Arithmetic Operation" with +%
