Dont show any products in any the category level

Hi I dont want to show the child products or any products when showing any category level, they show under the categories...
I dont see a setting for this, I have tried to removed the code for this is in category/default but then the products don't show..

I just want to show categories - until it is on the category page of the products...

Any ideas, thanks

In current versions category layouts can be  hanged within Joomla menu item configuration,  as well as VM Configuration/Templates and by the use of template overrides.

Is there documentation on this - I am using template over rides (I assume you mean changing the code)...but if it can be done with menu items to show or not show, that would be better....

What I have found this that if remove the code that shows the product in the category, it removes the product in the product view page.... I dont know but this should really be an config option...

VM3.0.7.4 is 2 years old and is known to be insecure (and was a pre-3.0.8 test/development release).  Versions before 3.0.18 do not have the improved configuration/layout  options. VM3.0.20 should be released soon, but in the meantime try using VM3.0.19.7 which is a pre-release test version to see if this works for you.
