Hi
I am very new to virtuemart and have no php background.  I loaded Shoplab 3 theme (virtuemart version 3) and I get this error message.  I am using joomla version 3.3.6 and had prostar as my default theme.  Totally in the dark. would it be easier to just uninstall the template and choose another one.  can anybody help?

Joomla 3.3.6 is old - you should start with the current version, 3.5.6  - or is that a typo.  You may also have error reporting set too high in your wamp php.ini

Best way to test/learn VirtueMart is not by using a quickstart system or commercial template/theme, especially if they are not compatible with current versions.  Start with the basics, install Joomla, then install VirtueMart's two components and install the sample product data.

Alternatively there is an official pre-configured Joomla/VM package for beginners. This does currently have Joomla 3.6.2 installed, so after installation uodating to Joomla 3.6.5 is advisable.

Hi
tks for the response.  Not sure if I have understood you correctly, but i had installed both joomla and virtuemart independently, then built the web and lastly loaded the template.  Thought I have made sure the versions were correct.  However, will upgrade to the latest Joomla and go from there.  As a matter of interest and hope not to waste your time, but how do you set your error reporting lower?  The error that I mentioned is only on the home page.
Once again thank you

OK you did install the right way. But there was no need to install the Shoplab stuff, and it is very likely that it has not been updated to work with current VM versions. Use the default VM templates with the sample data to test VM and see how it works. A theme or specisic template can be added later if required - for VM sites I now always use templates from https://www.olympianthemes.com

The php warning was from the Shoplab index.php so should not reappear. Notices and warnings can be turned off in Joomla global config and also in VirtueMart configuration/shop/Advanced Settings although I generally turn them off in the server php.ini - don't know where that is in wamp as I use xampp for local testing.   http://php.net/manual/en/function.error-reporting.php may help
