Good evening everyone  :)

I have a question about new stable version. At the moment the only available stable version is 3.0.18 for Joomla 3.6.2. Can anyone tell me when new stable version for Joomla 3.6.5?
The reason I'm asking is this - our official shop is running on Joomla 3.6.2 and Virtumart 30.18. A director of mine IT section in our firm ordered to me to update everything immediately. He don't wanted to listen about versions which are compatible but not stable. I show him number of topics on this forum where you guys explain it all works and shops can be updated to joomla 3.6.5 and 3.0.18.9 and all would work OK!
And all this was my idea to run shop on Joomla and VirtueMart becasue a few workers saw it better to work with than magento. If you could tell me when new verson for Joomla 3.6.5 available I will be very very grateful - and may be I keep my job position.
Thanks you for your patient.
Best regards
Anton

Before you update anything, make sure you have a backup of the live shop. It is also always a good idea to install a backup of the current live website on your local computer first using for example https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html and test updates on the local copy. If your live shop uses any customisations, you would need to check if they still work or need to be updated, too.

You can update Joomla to the latest version independent of VirtueMart from the Joomla control panel. VM 3.0.18 should still work with Joomla 3.6.5.
Newer VM versions can be downloaded here: http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files
But the latest VM 3.0.18.9 contains a lot of changes since 3.0.18 was released. So don't update that without prior testing.

VM3.0.18 is just fine on J3.6.5 so there is no reason why you could not have updated just as soon as the security fixed versions were released. I would suggest you do check if your site has been hacked already. I don't recall seeing so many hack attempts on my Joomla sites as I have done since J3.6.3 and earlier versions were found to be seriously at risk.

The J versions you see next to the VM releases are the minimum version which we would expect people to be using at that time.

I would probably update to J3.6.5 and VM3.0.18.9 which seems to be more "stable"then 3.0.18, but do test on a backup of your site in any case (I always test any Joomla/VM or opther extension update on a site backup first.)

@jjk - you just beat me!
