Hi, I just spent a bit of time trying to figure out a couple of things on my virtuemart.
I set up language content and all ok. The site is both is Danish and French. It seems to be ok in Danish but not in French??? The French part is falling back on the english version while the rest of the site is turning to french. That's problem one.
I tried to set up my configuration so the Language setting  is set to French and Danish. If I do that, my product listing is not showing anymore on my back office and it gives me a error 404 on the public site if I try to see single products...
Which leads me to the second question : How do I set up this thing so I can have a translated version of my products and categories depending on which language you choose. There seems to be a language selector somewhere but i just can't find it.
Thanks a lot.
The site is actually on demo at studio-449.com/demo1.
Thanks for looking it up.

ok, I copied the whole language version in my override and it seems to be ok now. The elements are translated in french. However, the problem with the category descriptions and the article description remains... HOW DO I DIFFERENCIATE THE DESCRIPTIONS FOR MY ARTICLES IN VM???
Thanks.

Hi Milbo, thanks for the info and that is exactly how I set up this whole thing. BUT I just need the title of my categories and the description for the products to be translated as well. In other words, I need my category "Fish Soup" to be "Soupe de Poisson" in French and "Fiskesuppe" in danish. Is that possible at all?

Milbo

You did not read it, else post what you do not understand

"VirtueMart uses a completly different system. It uses for any translateable item own language tables. Dynamically translateable fields are signed with a flag, when the editing language got changed. "
Is there anything I have to install? I don't see anything like that on my virtuemart.

Milbo

You must enable it in the vm config by setting more than one language. You must have them installed properly in joomla and so on. Then you will see the language switcher at the menu, but only, when you are in a view, which supports it, for example product edit.

ok, done,
if I get into th eVM config and gives it a mutlilingual shop option for French, it gives me a "Language Missing id 1010" on the product listing, if I give it the Danish, it gives me no list at all for my product listings...
I can provide login info if you can go check it out...
Thanks in advance.

Milbo

you must setup your joomla correctly. no one will setup your page for free.

Hi,
Use my tool : http://shop.st42.fr/fr/produits/vm-be-pro-traitez-en-lot-vos-produits.htm, you have an option to add missing translation and after you can directly change the text, but for categories you need to manually translate it or use the import view to add the french translations with an excel sheet.

fabvincent

Hi. Thanks for the offer. Will look it up. As for setting up my joomla, i'm pretty sure it is set up ok. VM is the only thing that  is bugging. Will try to upload the latest version.

There is the rule, that the products should be entered first in your default language, which is the joomla default site language
