State Region not showing up in dropdowns

Hello, I have a website on joomla 3.5.1 and virtuemart 3.0.16.

I'm currently working on a new layout and when I tried to order a product to test I stated to a problem.
The dropdown to select the state for a country doesn't work. The states doesn't show.

I tried to find the solution on the forums with search but couldn't find an answer.

Can someone please check this out?

Do the states show on checkout if you use Protostar and no OPC?

because there are no states configured for Belg or Holland.. configure them...

I had configured the states for belgium. It was the first thing I did when I installed virtuemart.

enable say USA .. do those states show?

if not check for JS errors etc

Alright, Tried that. USA didn't work either.

I run a JS test and I came on this one: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error). This error is for the state dropdown.

Any idea on how to fix this?

you have to find what the error is.. 500 just said "I failed" - you need to know why

plenty of info on here about logging , errors etc etc .. ask your host or search the logs
