Save Cart Function not loading earlier cart

Hi All,

In a recent site I made VM3's inbuild 'Save Cart Function' (autosave cart) does not automatically load the users earlier added items into the cart on re-login.
Only after doing a page refresh (or choosing another page from the menu) it will load the items.

How do I prevent this behaviour?
I would like to have the items load immediately after login.

The site is setup with a login home page, to restrict access to registered customers only (wholesaler). I use Joomla own login module to give access.

It uses Joomla 3.5.1 and VM 3.16

redirect them to a welcome page and then they have to refresh to see the cart?
refresh the page after login by something in the url and detect and JS refresh?

I thought maybe there's a solution within the confines of the VM package.
Thanks GJC, I'll give your suggestion a try... that should fix the problem the easiest way ;-)
