Manufacturer sub product categories display

I have a problem...

Situation:
I have a menu for Product Categories and one for Brands, well Manufacturers. When visitors clicks on Shop By Brand in the main menu, I have it set to skip the 'Manufacturer Details Page' and takes them to a page displaying all different products under this manufacturer. In "worst case" this manufacturer have around 80+ different products. On my site, this takes up to SEVEN seconds (!) or even longer to load this page. How can I solve this in a smart way?

I am thinking of a middle step, that will display sub manufacturer categories of this manufacturer's products. (All products, happen to be some kind of wallets or credit card holders.) With this middle step next page wouldn't have to be so heavy to load. Maximum around 25 products.

I have temporarily solved this by adding a special kind of page by creating different product categories (It's actually an article) and assigning them to this one specific manufacturer. Though, I am not very fond of this solution. (Also the breadcrumbs become strange...)

The huge loading time of the manufacturer page is a real shopper and conversion killer. Hardly nobody waits for 7 seconds for a page to open.

Am I missing something, have it wrong configured or what?

I would be very grateful for any suggestions that could solve my problem. How would you do it?
