VM2: Language back to English after saving

Hello,

In a multilanguage shop, when we are editing the product information for the languages, the language switches back to English after each save. This wastes time! For every change in product information we need to go back and change the language again after each save.

We are on the latest VM 2.6.22 but this has been a long standing issue with VM.

Thank you GJC.

However, this looks like a bug to me.

I will not pay a membership to be able to report a bug, in what I thought to be a free e-commerce solution. I will -however- gladly help troubleshoot, and help with the solution, and testing.

Thanks again

It is working as designed, so it's not a bug. After clicking 'Save', VM goes back to the selected Joomla site language. So you can temporarily switch the site language if you want to avoid that VM switches back to English.

VERY sad to hear. Especially for those who save often to avoid data loss.

Why was it designed that way? VM may as well return to the Joomla global configuration panel, after saving a product. That would only be slightly more inconvenient.

It is also highly error prone: switching the content like that, and you may end up editing the wrong thing before realizing (me being a victim of this)

Setting a cookie, or a session variable shouldn't be too hard...

Perhaps this extension would be something for you: http://shop.st42.fr/en/products/virtuemart-translator.htm
But I'm not sure if it works with the latest VM 3 versions. Another option would be to edit translations directly in the database tables if you want to save some time.
