Hi,
I found several tutorials about the topic how to allow a guest user to checkout.

unfortunately they all referring to a VM version I don't have or they don't work.

Without a registration a user can go on my webpage to the cart and to the checkout.
But once the user want to enter a address it asks for a login.

I un-ticked the box: ask for registration and "user have to register before checkout" in the VM configuration centre.
and  in the joomla konfiguration:
user registration : no
user group after registration: public
guest user group: public

I am using VirtueMart 3.0.2 and Joomla! 3.4.0

can anybody help me on this topic?

thanks regards
Daniel

For security reasons you should be using at least VM3.0.8 - http://virtuemart.net/news/latest-news/469-security-release-vm3-0-8
Current latest version is VM3.0.9.4  which is compatible with Joomla 3.4.1

Are you using the default VirtueMart templates or do you have a commercial template with overrides? Are you using a one page checkout plugin? Impossible to tell as you have not given a URL.

thanks for your time and  for the hint of the update,
yes I have to do that.

the web page is: https://www.mementi-urnen.de/
and the shop is https://www.mementi-urnen.de/index.php/shop

bought a full template and to be honest I am not into the details about witch plug-ins are used. (of course i can see them in the list but they don't meant a lot to me)

I see the problem, but not the cause.

Try making a Public Joomla menu link to VirtueMart Account Maintenance. If you already have an item of this type which is set to Registered then change it to Public.

The template uses a lot of overrides so if the above does not work I suggest you switch the Joomla template to Beez or Protostar and see if you have the same problem.
