Invoice PDFs not generating - Confirmed order emails not being sent

Joomla 3.4
Virtuemart 3.08

I had in the configuration to generate the invoice in the state "confirmed". In this case virtuemart had a problem and it doesnt send the confirmed email. Then I changed the state to send the invoice in the state "confirmed by the shopper" and then virtuemart sends the confirmed email (because the payment plugin sends always the state "confirmed" and doesnt send the state "confirmed by the shopper" but now virtuemart says that it doesnt generate the invoice number.

I could see that the problem is in the method createInvoiceNumber (orders.php).

I have several questions:

First question: Which thing i could have bad in my configuration? I would like to change the value of my configuration to "confirmed" and not "confirmed by the shopper".

Second question: How can I see the invoice number?

Third question: Could I have any problem if virtuemart doesnt generate the invoice number?
