FIX PRODUCT DESCRIPTION LENGTH IN VIRTUEMART

Hey everybody,

after thorough searching I found this command that can alter the table that contains the product description length:

alter table xxxxxx_virtuemart_products_en_gb change column product_desc product_desc TEXT NOT NULL;

All seems fine, but after updating my VirtueMart to 2.6.12.2 (or in any other version), the altered tabled is reset to its default size. What does that mean? It means that all my product details that are quite larger (in length), get cut off! That means loosing valuable time and work! (Thank God, I've got my backups...)

This alteration of the table happens also if I make any changes in Virtue Mart configuration, for example enabling the "Allow non logged-in to send a recommendation or ask a question" etc etc...

Any ideas of how to avoid this matter? I really want to be up to date with the latest releases and so on, as well as enabling or disabling options in my virtuemart configuration....

And most of all, I don't want to loose valuable data!

I use Joomla! 2.5.27...
