Hi all... hope this is the correct section of the forum.

I have an issue with the VM Featured Products Module (also applies to Latest Products). When these modules are displayed on the homepage (show add to cart link is set to NO), the add to cart buttons are displayed and those products that have child items has this displaying.

I'm using a commercial template and the developer said he has gone through the site and that the issue is not a template one but is a VM issue. This site is in development - I've used a back-up of a working site and applied the new template. I do not have this issue on the working site.

Can anyone recommend a possible solution? I don't see how it's a VM issue if it's working perfectly on the live site using a different template.

Many thanks!

Shane

versions?????????????

but if as you say ALL you have done is apply a new template and that on the original it all works -- then -- IMHO it can only be a template issue

on the original do variants show on the modules?

Sorry for bad etiquette  :-[

Joomla 2.5 & VM 2.6

Here is the live site: http://vaperstore.co.uk/ - There's a Featured Products module near the bottom of the home page - the 'Choose a Product Variant' isn't showing, nor is add to cart. I have disabled the 'Add to cart' in the module settings. Therefore, this module is working as expected.

Here is the new template site with the issue: http://78.129.162.8/~vapersto/example-site.co.uk/ - There is a Latest Products and Featured Products module on the homepage, both with this issue. The 'Add to cart' button is set to 'off' in both cases.

If I can be satisfied that this is a template issue then this is all I really need as I'll go back to the developer and highlight how it's working fine on the live site. The support person suggested it was a VM error and that I post on here for help...albeit I've trawled the previous threads looking for some clues. I didn't get anywhere though.

It may be worth mentioning that custom fields didn't seem to work at all initially. I had to get advice from the developer and it was then fixed simply by adding a _ to the start of one of the VM file names. It also needed additional styling with CSS. Their demo sites don't appear to use any variants, so I can only wonder if this aspect of VM was neglected a bit during development. A part from this, I couldn't be much happier with the templates they produce and the support provided.

BTW, I'm interested in your postcode shipping extension for another site. I hope to go through all the information on your website in a bit more detail and then discuss it with the site owner. Actually, it would be for this site: http://synergiiworktops.co.uk - it also uses a template from the same developer, but there does not appear to be any issue with the Hot Products module on the home page.

Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it.

Thanks!

The problem would appear to be that the new module is not checking if the product has variants before showing the add to cart - it is also just ignoring your setting of not to show add to cart

It can IMHO only be fixed by changes to his module over ride

Quoteby adding a _ to the start of one of the VM file names

I assume in the template over rides? All he has done is disable it and use the native VM template - have you tried disabling the mod over ride for featured?

Ah, yes...it was a template file that was changed, not a VM file. Sorry! You can probably tell that I have very little coding experience...more of a button pusher. :-)

I will try the featured over ride suggestion. It sounds feasible - fingers crossed!

Thanks for taking the time to try to help!
