Backend Components>VirtueMart menu shows errors

Joomla 3.3.3 and VM 2.9.9b, when I use the menu Components>VirtueMart, I get pages of errors above the control panel. The errors don't appear if I navigate to the control panel using any of the submenus. Most errors look like this:
