categories have different layouts

I have several products under several categories in my virtuemart, and most display the correct layout, however one category's product layout has decided to display a different layout. Could someone please direct me on what has occured.
Joomla 2.x
virtuemart 2.0.24
The correct layout shows in the page source:
<div class="browse-view">

<div class="orderby-displaynumber">
   <div class="width70 floatleft">
prior to code to display the products.

The incorrect layout shows int he page source

<div class="category-view">

               <div class="row">
                     <div class="category floatleft width50 vertical-separator">
               <div class="spacer">

I have cleared and purged all cache on the site and still no resolution.

must be the setting for that category -> Number of Products per Row  or you have some sort of other over ride in the config
