Show Products of Subcategories on parent Categories

Hi,

I need to to show the products of the subcategories also on the there Parents. I know the topic was discussed several times in this forum but it seems for older VM versions as I can find the file "administrator/components/com_virtuemart/html/shop_browse_queries.php" which need to changed in the prior topics. Also is this solution a bit tricky as the files may get overwritten on an update.

Also the solution to add the parant cats to the products as well is not really elegand.

Is there really no native solution for it?
