Virtuemart Checkout page location

Hi,
Once adding a product into my virtuemart main website and moving to the checkout / registration, the page displays on my homepage with products and then only registration and cart at the bottom. (So I have to scroll down to get to the checkout/registration) How do I get the checkout/registration to appear on its own page without the template contents all round the checkout?
Hopefully something simple I am just missing.

Sounds like a Joomla menu issue. You chould have a menu link to the VirtueMart Home page for a start.
