Products have dissappeared from second legel categories

I have a site in development, which is nearly at completion, however, something strange happened this week. The products in the second level of categories arent showing. They were, but I cant find anything that ive done that would affect this?

If I click on a sub category all of the items disappear.

The same is happening under all of the other categories, please can anyone point me in the right direction?

Would be very grateful for any advice.

I have found out what the issue is....so for anyone else experiencing this problem....

I set up the sub menu manually, but instead of selecting shop category, I selected shop categories. Changing back to category singular has resolved the problem.
