Shipping price missing in cart

VM 2.0.22a - Joomla 2.56

I have 3 sites all being developed at the same time, all using the versions above and on every single one of them i have no shipping price in the cart. The tax for the shipping price shows up, but the actual shipping price is missing. All 3 sites use different templates and i have switched to standard joomla templates with no effect.
I've attached a screenshot. This particular site has no tax showing, but if i do enable it the tax for the shipping shows, but not the price. For example shipping cost of £10, tax £2. The £2 shows up in the correct column but the £10 won't be showing.
I have used overrides in 2 of the sites but even if i remove them it makes no difference whatsoever and the edits to the file were simple layout changes from left to right to align up some text.
Help! This is starting to do my head in! :-)
