safe path file

I am having problems creating the safe path file that will work. I followed all the instructions i could find here. I went to my server and created a file (mysafefilename) . then i linked the file name in VM cofiguration>templates>safepath.

I tried my full URL/mysafefilename/  which should work fine if it is in the root directory shouldnt it?

I tried: html/mysafefilename/

I tried:  /mysafefilename/
I tried:  mysafefilename/
I tried: mysafefilename
no matter what i try i get the same error messages.

Been working on this for over a day now searching for help, tutorials, or any information to help me. I think i am down to asking someone here that knows how to do this to please help me before i give up the virtumart and go with some other type shopping system.
