How to get the parent name of a child product

Does anyone know how to get the parent name of a child product?

I would like to change the name of the child product (on the product details page) to the name of the parent product.

I am working on this feature for virtuemart. so far i am able to show it in cart page and on order history page. let me know if you still needs it. i am still planning to post the guideline with proper instruction but if you need it i can send you the progress so far.
