I read this forum topic here and others about upgrading to J2.5 first then migrating to VM2 - http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=102783.0

Though I have A slightly different set up.
I already migrated to VM2 in my J1.5 site and have pretty much everything working as it should now & want to upgrade to J2.5.

I will obviously test away from live environment, but want to check if there is anything else I need to do with virtuemart before using something like jUpgrade or spUpgrade

Thanks

I used the SP Upgrade component to migrate from J1.5 to 2.5  - there is a tutorial on http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/sp-upgrade/  (I have found this does a better job than Jupgrade)

I first migrate/convert the Joomla database to a new J2.5 installation with SP-upgrade (no VM installed on the J2.5 yet), copy over images & media using ftp and then set up the template & menu models. I found this is the bit that takes most time. Next VM2 was installed on the J2.5 site, followed by using PHPMyAdmin to export the VM tables from the J1.5 database and import to the VM2.5 database. Fine tune the layout configurations & css to suit the new template and the job is done.

Thanks for your reply.

I opted for jUpgrade yesterday as wanted it to move other components that it supports too and seems to have worked OK.

I had already migrated to VM2.0.12 in my J1.5 site.
After the jUpgrade I  had to re install VM2 & extensions, recreate some menu  links, but all the database stuff was there and seems to be all working OK
