confirmation emails not being sent

I'm running VM 2 - current version - and am having an issue. When a user places an order, isn't there supposed to be an email sent to them confirming their order? And isn't there one supposed to be sent to the store owner telling them there's a new order?

I just placed a test order, and paid for it and everything (using PayPal plugin). The order status says "confirmed" in the back end - but the only email I ever got was from PayPal.

Hello,
probably You  miss some  mail configurations.
Go to Site-> GLobal configuration ->Server ->  Mail Settings
p.s. Do not forget to change message icon to Solved.

Thanks, but I don't think that's it. Every other email function on the system works fine.

At this point, I'm becoming willing to pay someone a reasonable amount to get this working. I can email to and from the account where the emails are supposed to go, so I know that the issue isn't with the server. Please, anyone - have any ideas?

I'd even appreciate anyone willing to log into the admin area and make sure everything is set up correctly. I can PM temporary login credentials to anyone who can help.
