Understanding "My Account/Log In" on VM

Hello,

I'd like to understand how "MY Account" in VM works. I have a regular Joomla pages, also. If I have "Register My Account" function in Joomla pages, how do I manage the site and store My Accounts.  I am just a bit confused.

I see VM has a login page already.../user/login.
