How to change the checkout

How can I make sure the different looks different, I want clear steps:
1st fill in Details (no need for the cart to be visible)
2nd select shipment  (no need for the cart to be visible)
3rd select payment  (no need for the cart to be visible)
FInish order (now cart can be visible)
