It's not possible to delete category images

The red cross to remove image is not working.
It's not obvious how to remove added image.
More user friendly image upload would be fine...

Are you talking about an alleged bug or just complaining about the usability?
Using the same setup as you, I cannot reproduce the error (category images are perfectly deleted)
Just make shure to set the right permissions to your images directory.

Confirmed... same problem here...

Upon investigating a bit I can add that this problem only seems to occur when one changes the thumbnail size to something bigger than the default size (in my case I made my thumbnails 130x130). When I upload an even bigger image to a VM category, Virtuemart correctly reduces the size to 130x130 and displays this new size inside the thumbnail frame, but the frame doesn't seem to take into account the new thumbnail size. So, the button is actually there (I found it using Firebug), but it's not visible (nor usable) because it's pushed outside of the frame, below the thumbnail image.

This issues has been resolved for a while on the SVN.   It will be included in next release
