Maximum number of words allowed by the 'Text Area'

How can I extend the maximum number of words allowed by the 'Text Area' type custom field?
I need to be able to insert more text, now it cuts it off when I save.
I would like to point out that I use TinyMCE as a text editor

You are using an older version, or? Because new version should have "TEXT" which is reaaally a lot space. I added this last year for a customer. Better said, the customfield textarea does NOT use the normal customfield_value but instead the  customfield_params, because it has no params,... :-)
