Show sub categories from menu item

Hi, i am new at VM and have tried to figure this out, but there are so many old and so many answers that i cannot figure out the correct answer.

I have created a virtuemart category menuitem (Clothing).
When clicking on this i would like to display all the sub-categories (the category picture) for all the subcategories. Meaning i would like to see the picture for the subcategories called Dresses, Shirts and so on.

Is this possible, and how do i do this?

You can insert VM category module into menu module. Either by creating a template override or by using this plugin http://extensions.joomla.org/extension/modules-anywhere
