New install VM 2.0.8c and Joomla 2.5.8 strangeness

Apache Version = 2.2.22
MySQL Version = 5.1.63
PHP Version = PHP 5.2.x with Suhosin Patch
Joomla Version = 2.5.8
VirtueMart Version = 2.0.8c

Basic config
1. flat price on items some have discounts, others do not
2. shipping based on weight only
3. no taxes, defaults used

OK, I'm getting some strange behavior from Virtuemart.
Issue 1: baseprice doesn't show up - the discounts and discount amout do show up, baseprice is blank
Issue 2: when I look at this in the shopping cart, I get the following error

SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Then I'll click on show cart again, and I'll get

hi you must move very fast as joomla is still at version 2.5.6 ? *8?

Try this - turn off these setting a and if they are already off - then save turn on,  turn off save - you'll get the idea.

Is possibly related to suhosin, try turning it off in php.ini

Also make sure you are using the minimum requirements to run J2.5, especially actual PHP version.  http://www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html
