Fetch Default Currency Symbol IN VM 2

Hi

Is it possible that I can fetch the currency Symbol by some code in VM 2.0.20b in joomla 2.5 and php 5.3.11
I have set Currency Australian Dollor and accepted is also Australian Dollor in shop its currency Symbol is $.
How can i fetch only this symbol $ by code pls tell thank you
