Double orders with credit cards

Hello,

I am working with a Joomla 2.5.6 site with VirtueMart 2.0.8e. I recognize the versions need to be updated and that is expected to be done within the next 2 weeks.

None of the site code has been touched this year. The server has not had any changes this year either. A new issue has appeared where some orders are being duplicated.

The site shows 29 orders in the past 3 days, three of which have been duplicated. All of the duplicated orders paid with a credit card. All three duplicated orders show the time placed of each order as the exact same minute.

We use PayPal as our credit card processor. When I looked at each order, the Transaction ID for each order was different. I checked with PayPal and we did indeed receive double payment in each case. All orders show a "confirmed" status.

I have reviewed numerous other articles on these forums related to double orders, but most dealt with different payment processors or older versions of VM. Any ideas what may be causing this issue?

This can be caused by double clicking the order confirmation, or clicking again when there is a few seconds delay before going to the payment processor.

The next version of VM (2.6) has a fix that should prevent this, depending on server speed and speed of transfer to payment gateway. This is available for testing as VM2.5.4, http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=122785.0

RyanK - did you solve this? I have the same issue!

We are getting duplicate orders & payments with current version VM 2.6.0 - I have eliminated the possibility of it being from double-clicking the confirm purchase button on checkout (see: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=122883.msg422084 ). VM is creating 2 orders with different order numbers and taking 2 payments. It is not happening every time nor can I see a pattern or anything in the duplicates that might lead to a certain product nor I am unable to duplicate it myself in all my tests.
