Put the meta description when the home is the first page of virtuemart

I set the home site of the first page of virtuemart but if aggiiungo the meta description in the menu item is not displayed, where am I wrong?

I had the same problem. Had to use EFSEO - Easy Frontend SEO. It is a plugin which allows editing from the fronted.
Obviously the meta tags for VM Startpage are not implemented, so whatever you enter in the Joomla menu is without any result for the VM Frontpage. With ESFSEO it works.
