New Categories Won't Show in Admin

Hello,

I have imported my categories into the categories and categories_en_gb tables.  Everything uploaded with no errors using Navicat to directly import them into the DB.

I exported the existing tables to have all the correct table headings.

After importing, everything looks correct in the DB tables, but the categories do not show in the product categories area or as an option for a category to assign when creating a new product or Virtuemart Category Layout menu item.

Does anyone know why the categories won't show even though they appear in the DB tables used by VM?
