Menu item question

I have two shopper groups.
Public shoppers and and wholesale shoppers.

I have created one shopper group and product group for each, with the respective sub product groups.

I assigned a shop menu item with public access as the public shopper group should be visible the the general public and another wholesale access.

When I login as wholesale shopper I can still see the public shopper menu item. Is there any easy way around this?
