image custom field values

Hi Guys.
I have tried to find a solution everywhere on the net and here as well plus tried to find a manual for vm 2.0.... no joy.
My problem is this:
i have many images under the media folder and in the admin and i have created an image custom field. Went to the products and tried to add the images one by one.
The problem is that i can only see the value 1 and nothing else.
I know it is the id of the image but i have about 100 of them but i can add any of them as a value except from id 1

Please advice and help

Just a thought  but The folder that the ID is looking for is here

public>>images>>stories>virtuemart >>product

not public>>media

Maybe you have them in the wrong folder onthe server?

I tried to add photo as a custome field - and had no issue- 
* if that's not the problem could you explain how you uploaded then into the folder - maybe you just uploaded FTP and they are not recognised by the Data base.
