How to restore VM images?

I have a test site where I have succesfully migrated to VM2.01N over Joomla 2.5.1 running on XAMPP1.7.3.  Everything transferred over okay it seems with the exception of the VM images.  I transferred them into the correct folders after migration and then tried syncing the media a second time without success.  I have looked into the virtuemaert_medias folder and have confired that all of the images are published.  I am stynied now.

I would like to work on modying my "views" but I need to have the pictures visible before i can make any meaningful progress.  Will the VM images display correctly on the software versions I am using?  If it is possible to do so what would be my best strategy be to migrate them.  I can uninstall VM as a last rsort if need be and start over unless someone has a better idea.  Anyone?

Well I guess i could say this problem is partially solved.  I finally used the migrastion tool to delete all of the databases ans resintal VM and them migrated the files again.  In this instance the images were alrteadty deposited into the correct folder when I began this process.  When completed all of the parent products and all of the categories had their correct images attached to them.
