USPS Shipping Module Error

Ok, I've seen this error before, but the solutions do not apply to my situation.
I am getting the error:
We are unable to ship USPS as the there was an error,
please select another shipping method.

I put VirtueMart into debug mode and I get the following error:
   <Description>Authorization failure.  Perhaps username and/or password is incorrect.</Description>
I've triple checked with USPS and they insist that the user name and password are correct and the path to the API are correct and the live version, not the test version.
They are insisting that the error lies with VirtueMart and not with them.
Please help as this client needed to have this site up over a week ago, but long delays in responses from USPS have put us way behind.

So nobody on VirtueMart has the answer to this one?

Any help with this? I have the same problem with j2.5 and V2.0.
