Just started a new installation with Joomla 1.7.3 and VM 2. I can't seem to find a shipment method / module for the United States Postal Service. I used to have one for older VirtueMart versions. What do I miss? The shipment by weight and zip code is a backup but it is not very administration friendly. I would rather like to continue to pull the rates from the USPS server.

A USPS plugin is not yet available. I guess someone is developing one, so it will be available in due course.

(We don't have USPS in Europe where VM is developed)

So who is the "someone"? Hello? Anybody out there? I'm willing to test it...  ;)

Hi,

QuoteI would rather like to continue to pull the rates from the USPS server.
I have done it, under a commercial licence. Please PM me if you need it.

So all I find so far is a commercial USPS plugin for EURO 50.- (~$63.78). Is there anybody out there that offers a USPS plugin for less?

jombie

Has anyone else worked on a USPS plug-in?

Tried looking at Alatek's site but couldnt find any info there.

Virtuemart Extensions page has very little info on it and No working demo.
FORUM link is bad.

I DON'T MIND PAYING FOR A COMMERCIAL LICENSE! Even if it is a bit pricey like Alateks
As long as it works.
So far I have found little documentation on it other than some screen shots and some google translation of an installation tutorial.

It works. I wasn't a fan of paying $60 USD for something for VM either...but couldn't find an alternative and my hands where tied.

Rest assured it does work and Alatek does provide support - personally and promptly. She just helped me work through a few issues with my installation.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I have updated this morning the tutorial: http://extensions.virtuemart.net/all-tutorials/8-shipment/6-installation-and-configuration-of-usps
I hope the information i have added will help people for the USPS configuration.

With the new Virtuemart, do you have to pay for a USPS plugin? I thought this was included?

alatak

Hello,

If someone wants to develop it , and give it for free, he is welcome.
May be you can do it?

The program in this link works great, I wasn't satisfied with the lack of Virtuemart functionality for USPS and this program works very well.  Was a little over $50 but well worth it to save the hassle and get automatic shipping numbers.  Just remember you need to setup your USPS Api functionality, do this on the USPS.com website.

Hello, I just purchased your USPS module for VM2. I am having an issue that I was wandering if you could help with. I am still learning PHP and JS and really am not there yet, but here is what I am after. Can you add or give me an idea as to where to start with adding an option for your module to allow for Free Shipping if the dollar amount where at a certain amount or higher. Or even this if possible.

Right now I can set up a free shipping method with the standard ZIP/Weight shipping module that comes with VM2, but the customer still has to go and select it when both modules are active, where as in the 1.1 versions of VM this was a standard part of the shop configuration. You could just plug in a dollar amount and if it was met VM would echo " Shipping is free on this Order!" and overide the the modules, in the cart. So the customer did not even have top go look for and check that option. it was automatic. Very nice and the customer is not confused. But with VM2 this is an issue.

The latest VM2 series has the option for Automatic selection but it will not trigger if there is more than one option active. If you could just even add in a simple Maximum dollar amount for your module to die that would be ok. Just as the basic free module is right now. Min. Amount, and Max. amount if that makes any sense. Any how If you could help out that would be awesome, and lesson the blow of the $60.06 USD I just forked over for what used to be free.

Hey, I love your mod, just for the time savings, but this would really be of help to not just me, but others as well as I can see in the forums. Plus It would be an excellent selling point for you folks to add the ability to trigger the automatic shipping selection.  As explained, even if you could add the max. limit setting would essentially deactivate your module, then the VM Autoselect option in shop configuration would trigger in and leave the customer with nothing to do but to agree to terms and checkout...

Thanks in advance,

Is there any update on this? Is it true that VirtueMart has no FREE module for an API with USPS for its new version? That seems like a basic feature that should be built in.
