I'm using version RC3 and now i wanna update to the final version. First i get an error when trying to do it with the extensionmanager. Then i go to VirtueMart Live Update. It tells me there is an update but when i click the update version i get the error message :

JFolder: :files: Path is not a map. Path: /home/deb49752/domains/notsoordinary.nl/public_html/tmp/com_virtuemart_update
JInstaller: :Installation: Couldn't find Joomla XML installation file

Wrong packettype. Update couldn't continue.

I update everytime all versions of RC3 without any problems with the extensionmanager. What is the difference between the RC3 zip file and this final zip file, authorizations ?

ahhh you catched us. please excuse.

The first file was wrong, I think it was maybe 20 minutes on the server. I was just missing the copy of the install folder into the root directory of the zip (joomla 1.7 workaround). I am almost 99% sure that when you download the version again it works.

Ok thanks for your reply.
I'm going to download it again and let you know the result.

Hmm then try this http://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-gallery-component/438-cannot-find-joomla-xml-setup-file

I downloaded the zip file again, extract it and also extract the 2 zip files inside. Than i upload these 2 directory's to my .../tmp/ directory.
I opened extension manager and try to install the new VirtueMart 2 with like you said. The same result, a very quick error message in dutch that the copy went wrong.

I installed all previous version from RC2 till RC3 without any problems. Only this final version won't install, so what's different.

For some reason I also have a problem to update or install a fresh version of VM 2.0.0. on J1.7.3
On a fresh install I frequently get something like:
Component Install: DB function reports no errors
Error installing component

After my latest attempt I found the VM2 component twice in the Joomla "Extensions" table.
...will continue with some more attempts later today... :)

I did 4 test installs on J1.7.3 yesterday and all installed just fine. UK En as language in each case.

After starting my VM2 SVN version today, it automagically switched from RC3 to "You have the latest version
2.0.0". So perhaps it did stick to RC3 because of a session cache problem???

Installing a fresh VM2.0.0 into a a fresh J1.7.3 (both without sample data) went fine.

So more dan 300 views and nobody has a solution ?

jjk

Apparently not. I have no idea why my installation refused to update from RC3 to 2.0.0 for quite a while. I did play with the VM2 tools like "Install tables or if necessary update them", "Renew config by file" (if you use the latter, it's a good idea to edit the virtuemart.cfg file first, so that it contains all your configuration settings, which are stored in the database, not in that file), etc. Nothing helped, but when I started my computer and VM2 the next morning, VM2 surprised me with "You have the latest version 2.0.0".

If nothing helps, you can still export the database or indivdual tables (including an "Add drop table" checkmark) with phpMyAdmin and then import it again into a fresh Joomla/VM2.0.0 installation.

Hi,
I have the same Problem.

JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Pfad; /home/www/web902/html/tmp/com_virtuemart_update
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file

I use the J1.6.x and the RC3 version of the VM.

One more thing. It seems, that the dev. site of VM ist down. So when i downloaded the final version from the homesite of VM it had 0 byte of the size. The http://dev.virtuemart.net/ is not reachable.

I had the same problem, solved with instructions belowe:

UnZip al files in a folder named "com_virtuemart_update".
Upload this folder on "/temp" trought FTP.
Login into Joomla Administrator, go on Extensions, Manage Estensions and use install from folder.
Seems to work for me.
