getting started

Hi. I apologize for being so new at this, but I'm having trouble getting started. I'm using J1.7.2 and VM2-k.
I'm not sure how to begin the configuration. I clicked on Components, and I see the Virtuemart aio, which tells me I have the latest version. But I don't see how to get to the VM panel to configure it. Is there something wrong with my installation? Or something wrong with how I'm proceeding?

I don't know if this is helpful, but my efforts to configure the currency, etc., lead me to: 
Fatal error: Call to undefined method JLanguage::getBackwardLang() in /home/.../components/com_virtuemart/compat.joomla1.5.php on line 78
